I’m really refreshed after getting to DJ as a hobby last weekend. It’s a great chance to play different things…even if it looks the same. You know, using songs I don’t normally use, or ones I wouldn’t dare try at huge places.
By the way I like contrasts. The environment of my musical life consists of mostly (mostly) meticulous studio work like making tracks, during the week. On the weekends, it’s totally free DJing. And in my most private place, my car, I only listen to folk music. Those who only know me from the clubs probably can’t picture it but I hardly ever listen to dance music in my car. It seems to go without saying, but people of sound like many types of music. And for whatever reason, people tend to think that the sounds you make are dictated by the music you listen to, but that is not really the case. In my case especially, there is a really big contrast. It’s kind of ironic, but I think of myself as “multiple personality musician”… because I really like various kinds of music. It is not strange if a French chef eats Japanese food and then makes some right?

So anyway, this weekend I will be doing the 4th week of my Japan gigs; Friday in Nagoya, Saturday at WOMB in Tokyo, and Sunday at WORLD in Kyoto.

At WOMB and WORLD. I will be joined by special guest BENNY BENASSI! This will be the first time I have seen him since he treated me to dinner back in June, and I can’t wait!!

先週は久々に趣味DJ的な事が出来てかなりリフレッシュになりました。

やってる事は同じに見えても普段使わないトラックだとか、大箱では決して使えないトラックだとかをプレーする絶好のチャンスですね。

ところで、僕はコントラストが好きです。
僕の音楽にまつわる生活環境で言うと、平日はスタジオで割と（割と）緻密なトラック制作。
終末は全く緻密ではないDJプレー。そして車の中は最もプライベートな環境で、もうここではフォークな音楽しか聞きません。

クラブでの僕しかしらない人には全く想像がつかないとおもいますが、車中ではほぼダンストラックは聞きません。リスナーは色んな音楽が好きでも当たり前ですが、何故か音楽をクリエイトしていると、作風自体がその人の音楽性の全てと思われがちです。
しかし実際は全然そうではありませんね。
そして、僕の場合更に作風もホントにコントラストが強いですし。

こんな理由から皮肉を込めて自分自身を「音楽的多重人格」と表現していますが、実は当たり前に多彩な音楽が好きだということです。フレンチのシェフが和食を食べても、いや作ったって可笑しくない。

ということで、今週の国内ギグ祭り4週目は金曜名古屋、土曜東京WOMB、日曜京都WORLD、WOMBとWORLDはスペシャルゲストのBENNY BENASSIと一緒です。6月にNYでご飯奢ってもらって以来の再開。楽しみ！

木曜、金曜と都内某所での半分クローズドのパーティー。
で日曜はLE BARONのフェスです。

日曜以外はちょっとここでは公開出来ませんが、ヒントというか何かしら考えたいと思います。DJの内容も、パーティーもいつものFEARLESSやTHE YESと違う小規模＆ローカルな感じかな。

DJing here in Japan, for week 3…

Thursday and Friday, at an undisclosed location, I’ll be playing an almost secret party. On Sunday, I’ll be doing a festival at LE BARON. The contents of the sets, along with the parties like FEARLESS and THE YES themselves will be really different. Basically, it will all be on a smaller scale, with more of a local feel.

PHOTOようやくUS&カナダと先日のBBOをアップしました！

The Bradberry Orchestra’s party was held last night at Billboard. The music and party-goers alike… everything, was a massive mix of things. This was not your normal club event, so the team of DJs had kind of a rough time. But even with that, being close to the dance floor had a different atmosphere, which was a lot of fun! The show also went well for the Bradberry Orchestra, which only played one song for this, their concert. With Mr. Kobayashi, I would like to tag-up and toss something into making something for the album.

昨夜のビルボードでのBBOのパーティーは盛況でありがとうございました。
お客さんの層も音楽もぜーんぶごちゃまぜの良いカオスでした。
通常のクラブではないので、DJチームはやや苦戦しましたが、その分フロアと
近かったりで、楽しみ方は違えど良い雰囲気でしたね。

BBOに至っては、まだ一曲しかないのにライブという暴挙でしたが、
なんとか形になりました。ここからアルバムまで小林さんとタッグで
シーンに一石投じられるような作品を作って行きたいとおもいます。

六本木ミッドタウンのBillboard東京でBLADBERRY ORCHESTRAのお披露目パーティーやります、BBOは一曲のみですが、その他バンド、DJ多数出演します。朝までのパーティーはこの箱では初だとか、是非

という訳で、怒濤の3日間３都市二カ国という過酷なギグの最終地点ロサンジェルス。

前日デンバーとの気温差ほぼ20度。ホテルに着くなりサウンドチェックに。

野外のHARD STAGEと屋内のEXPOステージからなるこのフェス、規模もメンツもナイス。

僕は二日目のEXPOステージでSTEVEやCROOKERSと一緒。

HARDのほうはBASEMENT JAXXやJUSTICEがヘッドライン。

身体も頭もヘロヘロだったけどLAでのDJは2006年から毎回相性が良くってホントに楽しい。

今回の旅にはavexの特撮部隊隊長のMASAくん&NORIも参加したので、画像＆動画お楽しみに！

So it was a hell of a tough time; 3 days, 3 cities, and 2 countries… with the last gig being in Los Angeles. There was a 20 degree temperature difference between Denver and LA, and after hitting the hotel it was of to the sound check. The festival’s performers and the locations of the indoor EXPO stage, and the outdoor HARD stage were great! I played on the indoor expo stage on the 2nd day with STEVE AOKI and CROOKERS. On the HARD stage, THE BASEMENT JAXX AND JUSTICE were headlining. My head and body were exhausted, but every time I’ve played LA since 2006, the chemistry has become better and better… it’s so much fun!

This time,MASA & NORI came along as part of the AVEX special forces brigade, (LOL)

Denver

Even with it being a bit warmer than Canada, Denver, Colorado was still covered in snow. Overall I received a really warm welcome, but the one and a half hour long set went by really fast. Surprisingly the peak of the show came early and it was over at 2 AM. But I felt that they seemed to be open, and responsive to new music. I was almost blown away by the place itself; great care was taken with the equipment and there were no problems.

I was really glad that so many people asked for handshakes and for me to sign autographs. It might be a bit late but… going to a city and being able to play a show for people you don’t even know is pretty incredible. Next, it’s off to LA for the craziest party on the tour.

カナダよりは少し暖かいとは言え雪景色なコロラドはデンバー。

総じて暖かく迎えられて1.5Hのセットはあっという間に終了。
終わりが例外なく2時なのでここの人たちのピークは意外に短いけど、
新しい音楽に反応しようという気骨のようなものを感じた。

お店もちょっと久々に感動するくらい機材面、ケアともに最高で、
これまためずらしくノートラブルで終了。

終了後握手やサインを意外なほど沢山求められて嬉しかったです。

知らない街にやってきて知らないひとたちに音楽をプレーする、
今更ながら素敵なことだなと思いました。

さ、次は今回中最もクレイジーなパーティーに参加しにいざLAへ。

I’ve been banging on from the first day.

It’s sort of surprising but the night clubs in the US and Canada don’t stay open very late. (By law!) This night was no different, with it going from 9 til 2… so from pretty early there were lots of people out and carrying-on. After the local DJ, there was Don RIimini from France, followed by me and then the CROOKERS who were the anchor. With it right around Halloween, everyone was pumped.

It’s off to a good start with these 3 shows in the US and Canada, so as always check back for the pics!

初日からぶっ飛ばしでした。

カナダ及びアメリカは意外とナイトクラブの営業終了が早く（法律で）

この日も9時スタートの2時終了。なので早くからみんな集まって大騒ぎ。

ローカルDJに次いで仏からDON RIMINI、そして僕、アンカーがCROOKERS。

ハロウィーン間近ってことでパーティー感満載の夜でした。
